The iPod To Open Doors In Aviation

“A Timeless Classic” - the lines of a fighter, the performance of a Ferrari and the comfort of a fine touring sedan - this is the way the Fury is described on the Fury website, and now the imminent single-engine, retractable two-seat aircraft is adding to its already masterful design - it is adding full iPod integration.
Now most people think of iPod integration being added as no big deal, but the Fury iPod integration is not solely to take out the bulky CD player, replacing thousands of dollars in heavy and expensive aviation hardware, it is also to be used as a digital data recorder. Used in this way the iPod becomes the first truly portable, personal flight recorder.
The iPod can record over 500 hours of flight time and makes replay of audio an on-demand experience. This includes cockpit conversation as well as two way audio transmissions.
As written in the press-wire released today the iPod is “a non invasive, completely portable and infinitely pervasive technology. This means it’s cheap, easy to replace and available on almost every street corner. The complete antithesis of aviation electronics.”
VP of Operations, RJ Siegel said, “By introducing such a mainstream device to aviation, we open the door to increased functionality at bargain basement prices. There are thousands of developers passionate about writing applications for the iPod. With such a large body of programmers we literally have no idea what the next great aviation application may be.â€
LeRoy LoPresti was the designer of the Fury and a world renowned highly admired General Aviation designer for the last 30 years. His sons now carry on the LoPresti legacy.
