Combining the convenience of a wired remote with new FM radio capabilities, the new iPod Radio Remote from Apple allows
users to adjust volume, and skip tracks with the iPod in a backpack or pocket, as well as listen to FM radio sations.
“The iPod Radio Remote combines two great features in one elegant product,†said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPod Product Marketing. “The iPod Radio Remote is both the best remote control and the best FM radio listening experience for iPod.â€
The remote comes with a pair of Apple headphones with a shorter cable that serve two functions - as headphones and as a radio antenna, also the Radio Remote headphones plug into the remote vs the iPod leaving the iPod headphone port available - so you and a friend can jam out to the same music while riding the subway, without the separate headphone splitter.
The remote is super small, and super light, it almost looks like your connecting the Nano to the Shuffle. Like the Shuffle is does have a convenient clip for easy attachment to clothing. As the remote uses RSD, radio stations with RSD will display the channel as well as song information on the iPod. When using the radio you are allowed to save favorite radio stations for easy accessibility. The remote is compatible with the Nano and fifth generation iPod and retails for $49.
