Apologies to the Prince - “We’ll Let You Buy The iPod!”

The Prince of Wales, who is set to fly out to Iraq this summer, stopped in at a VAT-free store on a US air base in Suffolk, with the intent of purchasing an iPod. However, he and his friends were turned away at the counter when the clerk asked them for their US identification needed to buy the goods at the “American airmen” only shop.

Without argument, Prince Harry and his friends left the store and later went to have a pizza on the base which is the largest US base in the UK.

Lt Col David A Konop, a spokesman for AAFEE said: “The girl at the till just did not recognize the prince at all.

“If we had known Prince Harry was in the store, we would have arranged something special with the RAF commander of the base.”

Konop also added, “”I am told three or four distinguished visitors from the British Army come monthly and are allowed to shop there, so it would not have been considered special treatment.”

Prince Harry recently underwent training at the Stanta Battle Area near Thetford, Norfolk, as part of his preparation for deployment.
