The iPod Is Englands New Weapon In Cricket World Cup
03.14.07 - 10:15am

England has fought its way back in cricket winning since 2000 after more than 30 years of losses to Australia and a strong West Indies team. Just before 2000 they were ranked at the bottom of the ICC list, but fought back to regain the Ashes in 2005, which they lost again in 2006. Now they are incorporating a new weapon in their fight to be back on top at the ICC World Cup, taking place now through April 28th in the West Indies. The weapon they are using, and an unusual one it is, is none other than the famous iPod.
The England Cricket Team is using the iPod to upload bowling actions of the opposing team as well as images of themselves performing so they can study the actions and analyze them over and over. This is to ingrain it in their minds as they come up with new ways of getting batsmen out, such as bowling slower balls and off-cutters, and so they know exactly what to do when the take on the New Zealand team this Friday for the opening Group C clash.
Liam Plunkett, one of the England Bowlers has stayed glued to the tiny iPod screen to analyze and learn tips on how to beat New Zealand. He told reporters, “I have to practice the next few days but it will be right for Friday. My swing has been taken away from me.”
