Potential of the Video Ipod

The question: Is the video iPod really worth anyones’ time or money?
Nielsen Media Research reporting on iPod users consumption habits for the device showed less than 1 percent of content items played on by iPod users either on iTunes or the device itself were videos. Even among iPod video users the percentage barely improved to 2.2 percent.
Is the problem with the video iPod having too small of a screen, movie prices costing too much, or is it simply that iPod users mainly listen to their iPod on the go - after all if you wish to watch TV and have the time to sit still wouldn’t it be better to sit in front of your big screen at home.
Still the video iPod has potential. With a larger screen, which Apple may be initiating next year, it would certainly be more enjoyable to watch a TV show or video. Secondly, it is still a wonderful thing to have when going on a long road trip especially with small children. While it is certainly more enjoyable to watch a movie on the big screen, when sitting in a car for twelve hours one is extremely grateful for whatever is available. Third, have all the possibilities of iPod video usage been tapped out? Podcasting allows you to listen to conference calls, radio and the like - perhaps soon businessman will be using it on a regular basis to watch as well as listen to a live presentation while away from the office.
Irregardless of what the answer is the video iPod is most likely here to stay and improve over time. It is just something that is too nice to have when one doesn’t have the option of a big screen.
