Microsoft Updates Vista For iPod
03.28.07 - 09:36am
Better, but not totally fixed is the word from Microsoft who released several patches for Windows Vista on Tuesday. Among those released is one specifically for the iPod.
When Vista first came out Apple reported problems with Vista corrupting the iPod if simply plugged into a Vista PC running iTunes. Problems were also reported with playback and warnings were made not to eject the iPod using Vista’s “Safely Remove Hardware” as corruption could occur.
Fixes were expected when Apple released iTunes 7.1 upgrade but they only added Apple TV compatibility and CoverFlow; an album sorting feature. Apple maintained that fixing Vista was Microsoft’s problem not theirs.
So Microsoft has finally come up with a patch to address the iPod issues, specifically the “Safely Remove Hardware”. Even with the patch though Microsoft says that 64-bit versions of Windows XP and 64-bit versions of Vista still remain incompatible.
