Survey Says iPhone Will Be “Monster”

In a survey to be released Friday by ChangeWave Research the iPhone will be much bigger than anyone has predicted. If the survey is correct Apple’s anticipated $10 million in sales for the first year should be an easy reach.

ChangeWave polled almost 3,500 people in the survey conducted April 4-10. The people surveyed were members of the ChangeWave Alliance - a mix of 10,0000 business, technology, and medical professionals.

Results from the survey had one in ten (9%) of the respondents saying the will likely buy the phone when it comes on the market with another 7% saying they will likely buy the phone as a gift for someone else.

“That’s huge,” said ChangeWave founder Tobin Smith. “This is going to be a monster.”

The results increased when offered a price break with 10% of non-interested consumers saying they would consider buying a 4GB model and 20% of non-interested consumers considering buying a 8GB model if the price fell to $200 to $299.

“The excitement surrounding the mid-June release of the Apple iPhone is just as strong among consumers as it was three months ago,” analysts for the firm wrote. “The current survey provides strong evidence that Apple should exceed its iPhone sales goals for 2008 – if its overall performance lives up to consumer expectations.”
