How Do They Deal With Us? Say Motorola of iPhone

Motorola is desperately trying to claw its way back after having a $181 million deficit last year, compared with a $686 million dollar profit from the year before with their celebrated Razr selling full swing.

Since then Motorola has been unable to produce a phone with the same high sales and their mobile devices have lost over 15% of their revenue.

With the launch of the iPhone looming like a big bad storm sweeping in on the horizon, Ed Zander, Motorola’s chairman and CEO, says that they are launching new 3G enabled mobile phones that are built to compete.

“How do you deal with [the iPhone]?” Zander was asked at the Software 2007 conference in Santa Clara, California. He quickly retorted back “How do they deal with us?”

Zander says that their new mobile phones are focused on internet capability and media playback. Zander stated, “We are working with another company to deliver movies on SD cards. You can start watching unbelievable quality movies.”

Of one phone in particular Zander touted, “This (device) has unbelievable video capability. It’s a media monster.”
