iPhone Expected To Set Off AT&T

AT&T is expecting a huge rise in sales with the coming of the iPhone as nearly 40 percent of people requesting information from AT&T are not yet AT&T customers.
“We’re gearing up for this big time,” CEO Randall Stephenson said. “We’re hiring and training hundreds of new employees to handle the rush.”
Stephenson calls it a “game changer” and it may very well be. Usually phones are sold separately from the networks so you buy the phone and choose your network. With the iPhone, if you want the phone you choose AT&T as well and there are lots and lots of people that not only want the iPhone but are salivating over it.
“This is the most anticipated telephone since Alexander Graham Bell’s,” said JupiterResearch analyst Michael Gartenberg. “If you’re not in the market for buying an iPhone, you want to stay clear of any Apple or AT&T stores on the 29th.”
In the meantime the competition has been working hard in the hopes of retaining their customers and a slew of “iPhone killers” will be hitting the market in quick succession.
Whether or not they can overcome the iPhone will largely depend on how well the iPhone performs and on how well AT&T’s service performs. If the phone lives up to its hype it is unlikely that any “iPhone killer” will generate any more waves than the “iPod killers” have.
