Iphone Activation? Simply Launch iTunes.

There will be no calling AT&T to activate your sleek new iPhone, in fact there will be no calling of any sort, all that will be required is that you have a computer, or have a friend with one, sit down at it, open iTunes and let the computer do the activation for you.
Connecting your iPhone to the computer will launch iTunes automatically and begin the step-by-step activation process. (If you haven’t yet downloaded iTunes but are planning on getting the phone you must have an iTunes account for activation.)
New AT&T customers are of course able to retain their old number and existing AT&T customers can either replace their existing phone or add a new line.
In order to complete the activation you will need; an Internet connection; an iTunes Store account or a major credit card; a valid Social Security number (as required by AT&T); the latest version of iTunes and a PC or Mac with a USB 2.0 port and one of the following operating systems: Mac OS X v10.4.10 or later; Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later; or Windows Vista Home Premium, Business, Enterprise or Ultimate Edition.
