QWERT Texting VS The iPhone! The Winner Is….
08.16.07 - 04:33pm
Guess what folks? Thirty minutes of texting with your iPhone will not be enough to overcome the old habits of working your QWERTY keyboard.Seriously! 30 minutes? How many years have these people been using QWERTY? and this is supposed to be a valid test?
User Centric put on the test using 20 subjects, 10 who had used QWERTY phones and 10 who had used traditional numeric keys. They then typed out six messages on there phones and six messages on the iPhone and no kidding they were faster on their old phones even after using them for a full 30 minutes! Guess that’s it, the iPhone just sucks, throw it away and go back to QWERTY.
User Centric did say that while this is the first phase of iPhone ownership, “It’s important to consider the changes a person has to make when they switch to the iPhone. It should be easy for people to do common tasks, such as text messaging, using the iPhone’s less traditional touch interface” Gavin Lew, Managing Director of User Centric.
In the end the conclusion was that QWERTY users would have more trouble learning the iPhone than users of numeric texting, and in the end they did say that at least the “multitap texters may see an eventual increase in text entry efficiency when switching to the iPhone.” Guess you can keep your iPhone after all folks.
P.S. Did they test the guy from the above video?
