Jobs Does Turnaround, Offers Rebate For iPhone Buyers

After receiving hundreds and hundreds of complaints from iPhone buyers who felt used and kicked in the dirt due to the $200 price cut of their prized iPhone just two months after the launch, Steve Jobs has done a turnaround from dismissing them to placating them with a $100 rebate.
“I have received hundreds of emails from iPhone customers who are upset about Apple dropping the price of iPhone by $200 two months after it went on sale. After reading every one of these emails, I have some observations and conclusions,” wrote Jobs in an open Letter on the Apple website.
Jobs went on to write that the cut was made so that Apple could “go for it” in the upcoming Holiday season.
He also says that the technology “road is bumpy.” He attests that there are always price changes and people who end up missing better prices and while Apple did the right thing by lowering the price they wanted to honor the trust of their earlier customers.
“We want to do the right thing for our valued iPhone customers. We apologize for disappointing some of you, and we are doing our best to live up to your high expectations of Apple,” finished Jobs in the letter.
Details for the rebate will be posted next week as they are still being worked out and will be able to be applied to the purchase of another Apple product. Customers who bought the iPhone in the last 14 days can get the full $200 refund if they have the receipt.
Katie Cotton, an Apple spokeswoman said, “Our customers trust us, and we want to keep it that way.”
