The 3G Nano vs the Sansa View

The Sansa View is the newest competition to the 3G Nano sporting a cheaper price and higher storage, but is it enough?

Both players have the same 320×240 resolution display, but the Sansa View has a slightly larger screen boasting 2.4 inches to the 3G’s 2 inches.

While the new Sansa View is the thinnest of their players coming in at 8.8 mm the 3G wins with just 6.5 mm.

Batterylife has the Sansa in tops with 35 hours of video playback and 7 hours of music playback while the 3G has 24 hours of music and 5 hours of video.

The Sansa View supports all files but iTunes AAC music tracks and also supports subscription services such as Napster, Rhapsody and Yahoo!Music. The player also has FM radio, a voice recorder with a built-in microphone and audiobook support.

The 3G also has the audiobook support, of course, as well as three games preloaded - Vortex, iQuiz and Klondike. It doesn’t have the built in voice recorder but it does have a world clock, built-in stopwatch, coverflow, and calender.

The biggest winner for the Sansa View are the price and storage points. The Sansa View comes in 8GB for $150 while the 3G has 4GB for $150. The 16GB Sansa view is $200 while the 8GB 3G is $200. The Sansa View also has a microsSD slot so you can add an additional 8GB storage to the player, something the 3G is lacking.

Still the Nano 3G just has that “something” to it. When you actually hold it in your hand its so cool and so thin!, and the new aluminum outside looks sweet, while the Sansa View has the now almost outdated typical black look. So while less expensive, with more storage the Sansa View is nice but the 3G still has the “it” that will have you paying a little extra, for possibly a little less, yet somehow feeling like you have so much more.
