Don’t Update Y/ iPhone If It’s Unlocked

Everyone may have thought Apple was simply going to sit back and let their unlocked iPhones be unlocked. After all they still make a profit, just not quite as much. Everyone thought wrong.
Apple has released a statement saying that they will release an update for the iPhone this week which could turn unlocked iPhones into a rather expensive hunk of junk.
“Many of the unauthorized iPhone unlocking programs available on the Internet cause irreparable damage to the iPhone’s software, which will likely result in the modified iPhone becoming permanently inoperable when a future Apple-supplied iPhone software update is installed,” the release stated.
Then again perhaps Apple was just sending out the warning so that all the iPhone unlockers wouldn’t install the update unknowingly and ruin their iPhone. (Nice of them) It does however make one want one that is not unlocked more than one that is, simply because there are sure to be some pretty cool updates in the coming months.
The new software update that Apple will be releasing will include the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store, available for use in Starbucks especially.
Hackers are already feverishly trying to find ways around new updates as software such as the one sold by SIMfree to unlock the iPhone may not work on iPhones bought after the updates are put on.
“We CANNOT guarantee that this software will work after any future updates for the iPhone. It does currently work on all firmware versions, up to and including, 1.02. We will naturally try to provide our resellers an updated version of our software for each firmware update, it is in our interest, but we do NOT guarantee that we will be able to do so. All updates will be free,” says the iPhoneSIMSfree website.
