Sundance Offers Free Premier On iTunes

Apples’ release of iTunes 7 on September 12 was followed by a 140% increase in traffic to iTunes. What changed? The new version allowed users to download films. The popularity of video downloads is expected to rise as more and more movies and TV shows are becoming available on iTunes.

The Sundance Channel is just one, that is using iTunes and video iPods as a way to get media out to people. Sundance is offering viewers a sneak peak of its highly-anticipated premiere episode of its new documentary series One Punk Under God, from December 5th through December 12th. The premiere episode of the documentary, which explores the life of alternative Christian leader Jay Bakker - son of Jim Tammy Faye - will be offered as a free download. The series follows Jim Bakker as he faces the professional, emotional and financial struggles while running his Revolution church.

Successive episodes will be available on iTunes the day after it premieres on Sundance Channel for $1.99 (US).
