MyMac Magazine Reviews iFrogz Vibez Speaker System

iFrogz Vibez Speaker System
Rich Lefko from MyMac Magazine recently reviewed the iFrogz Vibez speaker system and gave it a MyMac rating of 4 out of 5. Rich described how the Vibez helped him out with a presentation he had to give.

“There I was, in the conference room setting up for a presentation. I needed sound for a clip within my Keynote presentation. They had one of those mounted overhead projectors all wired up with sound. I reached behind the Windows machine and unplugged the audio and video cables and plugged them into my MacBook. The video came up, but no sound. Beads of sweat formed on my brow as I tried in vain to get sound out of that system. The presentation was set to start in less than ten minutes and some early birds had already arrived. Read on to find out what I did.”

Samsung & Adidas Will Work-Out Together

adidas.jpgThe success of the iPod+Nike has become so phenomenal that the Nike website is adding over a thousand new runners a day to their site. Runners that like to track their efforts have found the combination irresistible.

Thus it is not at all surprising that competition would arise for the companies. What is surprising is that is has taken so long, but nevertheless it is here, in a Samsung & Adidas combination mobile phone and music player called miCoach.

The miCoach features a 2-inch screen, only 1GB of memory, a 2-megapixel camera and USB/Bluetooth interface. A heart rate monitor and, a stride sensor chip complete the miCoach which is compatible with all Adidas running footwear and apparel. Online users can track workouts with a Web workout journal similar to the Nike+iPod.

Apple Loses To Amazon At Super Bowl XLII

Four years ago iTunes was just a fledgling set to rise to unparalleled heights. At the time the Super Bowl was a huge booster for iTunes which combined with Pepsi launched a commercial set to Greenbay’s version of the song “I Fought the Law” encouraging buyers to buy legally online from iTunes rather than illegally downloading tunes from various sources.

justin2.jpgOver 1,000,000 songs from iTunes were given away free in the Pepsi promotion and iTunes has then grown expeditiously year after year, becoming the extreme dominant in the download market and helping to propel iPods to explicit dominion.

Today however, a new era is emerging and rather than Apple being the underdog to Microsoft, with an almost cult like following, Apple is now the one on top and as the new “King of the Hill” is the one everyone wants to overcome.

For A Few Jolts Of Music…. Anyone?

tasergun.jpgIt seems like it would be more appealing if it was simply a case for the often abducted iPod rather than an MP3 player most people don’t want. Nonetheless, it’s out there; a MP3 player designed for holsting a taser stun gun.

With the slogan “Fashion With A Bite” the stun gun and MP3 holster hit the market at the CES show in Las Vegas complete with a leopard print enhancing the “bite” in the “fashion”

“These new product are a result of listening to our customers. Personal protection can be both fashionable and functionable,” said Rick Smith, CEO and founder of Taser International. “The Taser C2 leopard print design provides a personal protection option for women who want fashion with a bite.”

You can also get the stun gun in pink and red-hot red if you don’t like the leopard print The built-in MP3 holster holds a 1GB memory card for storing music and retails for $72.99. The actual stun gun that fits so seductively into the MP3 holster, holds 50,000 volts of electricity and retails for $379.

Morris’ Free Music Store vs Jobs’ iTunes

The big boys are battling and Doug Morris, Chief Executive of Universal Music, the largest music recording company in America, is taking on Steve Jobs and Apple’s iTunes rather vehemently.

Morris and Jobs used to be friends with Morris backing Jobs and iTunes all the way in the initial inception. Then the pricing wars started and Morris became upset with the pricing and marketing restrictions Jobs placed on Universal. Sources who spoke to Business Week said Morris, referring to Jobs ultra-control over the market and $.29 cents per song “indecent” revenue take, recently said at a meeting, ”We got rolled like a bunch of puppies.”

Morris is now fighting like a full grown dog and he is taking on Steve Jobs. His proposal is a music store owned by the industry called “Total Music”. He has already partnered with BMG Music on the deal and is reportedly in talks with Warner. Between the three they control 75% of the music recording industry.

MP3 Player To Cure Pimples? Just Maybe.

Who would think of it - an MP3 player to fight pimples, it sounds rather amusing, like they are using the vibrations of the music to cure the acne?

However, after a little research on the use of negative ions to cure pimples…

In the 1950’s scientists began to discover how important ions were in body functions. Here in America the general public knows little about ions but in Europe they take it very seriously, so much so that ion generators are installed in many businesses, banks, hospitals, passenger cars and even in airliner cockpits. Ions are used to in treatments to help burn victims heal faster, cure repiratory diseases, rid the body of general infections - including pimples - and even to check the spread of cancers.

First MP3 With Wireless Headphones

Apple may have introduced a whole new line of iPods with superb video and web integration but the one thing Apple left out has been picked up by RCA - integrated wireless headphones that come with the MP3 player. The RCA JetStream MP3 player will be the first player to market with the wireless Kleer headphone integration.

The new Jet Stream player is geared towards sports enthusiasts as over 51 percent of adult men who work out wear headphones while they do so. 40 percent of those give their number one complaint as tangled headphone wires.

The Jet Stream MP3 player ships with Kleer technology encoded wireless earbuds. Promoted as better than Bluetooth, Kleer claims longer battery life and CD-quality audio. Rather than using Bluetooths compression algorithm to deliver sound Kleer uses uncompressed 16-bit, 44.1kHz PCM audio at a bit rate of 1Mbps to 1.4Mbps.

Free Downloads From SpiralFrog but No iPods!

Itunes is always the one that any new music download launch site is automatically compared to, with the question always attached; Can it win?

The launch of SpiralFrog is no different and the question of “Can it win?” may already be over, for none of SpiralFrogs music can be played on an iPod. This already severely limits SpiralFrogs consumers. Over 70 percent of the people who have an MP3 player have an iPod and love it. If they can’t play SpiralFrogs music they won’t even be interested in looking over the site.

That said, the other 30 percent of the consumers out there may love SpiralFrog. It’s free for one. It has an impressive 770,000 songs and 3,500 music videos from Universal, INgrooves and other independent labels. There is no cost to download the music and play it on your MP3 player but the catch is it is DRM encoded. If you don’t go back to the site within a month and re-register the music will quit playing. It also cannot be downloaded and played on a CD.

The 3G Nano vs the Sansa View

The Sansa View is the newest competition to the 3G Nano sporting a cheaper price and higher storage, but is it enough?

Both players have the same 320×240 resolution display, but the Sansa View has a slightly larger screen boasting 2.4 inches to the 3G’s 2 inches.

While the new Sansa View is the thinnest of their players coming in at 8.8 mm the 3G wins with just 6.5 mm.

Batterylife has the Sansa in tops with 35 hours of video playback and 7 hours of music playback while the 3G has 24 hours of music and 5 hours of video.

The Sansa View supports all files but iTunes AAC music tracks and also supports subscription services such as Napster, Rhapsody and Yahoo!Music. The player also has FM radio, a voice recorder with a built-in microphone and audiobook support.
