Another plant is going up in China from Foxconn, also known as Taiwan’s Hon Hai Precision Industry group. The company is investing $1 billion in the new plant.
Foxconn is currently the manufacturer of Apple’s famous iPod and may even be the maker of the new iPhone, something neither Apple nor Foxconn has been willing to discuss.
The new factory will produce printed circuit boards and connectors for Foxconn’s contract electronics manufacturing customers.
Over 30,000 workers will be employed in the factories located in the Qinhuangdao Economic and Technological Development Zone in Hebei province.
Although Terry Gou, the controller of Hon Hai group has already signed the agreement for the investment approval is still needed from the Chinese Government.
Gou is Taiwan’s second-richest person with an estimated wealth of US$5.5 billion, behind Cathay Financial Holding Co Chairman Tsai Hong-tu, according to Forbes Magazine.
