The iPhone Gets Its First Real Competition.

“The Nüvifone is an all-in-one device offering unmatched integration of utility and function in a single device,” said Cliff Pemble, President and CEO at Garmin. “This is the breakthrough product that cellphone and GPS users around the world have been longing for - a single device that does it all.”
And with that Garmin has officially taken on the iPhone. Set to be launched in the U.S. in fall of 2008 the Nuvifone claims a high speed 3.5G capacity, much faster then the iPhone’s lamented 2G and full internet browser with Google search, along with a similar look of the iPhone’s famous touch screen.
Other attributes that the Nuvifone has over the iPhone are instant messaging, location tagging on all photographs, and video recording. As Garmin is a GPS company the phone will map where you are instantly, give directions, and show you where the nearest hospitals, restaurants etc. are with a click of a button.
