Phiaton Gives A Different Look To The iPod Dock

moderna_ms600_1.jpgiPod docks now are such a commonality that to be noticed one has to be different. The Phiaton Moderna iPod dock stands out by flashing colors of deep elegant red against jet dark black.

With its ultra-modern look the dock is meant to be seen rather than be tucked away inside an entertainment centers doors. The look according to Phiaton is Euro-style.

It weighs 5.3 pounds, puts out 60 watts of power and comes with a remote control.

The dock is a first in a line of products from the brand new company that made its official debut at CES 2008. Their goal is to provide listeners with a natural soundstage, wearability and eye catching appeal.

Other products the company will be releasing include heaphones and in-ear earphones with hand stiched leather ear cups.

Both the dock and the headphones are expected to be released in early spring. No word yet on pricing.

Apple Patent To Let Outside Noises In

Apple is always filing for different and interesting patents for use in some future machine we can only marvel at and this one is no exception.

While most people generally try to keep noises out while listening to their iPod with noise-oscillating headphones, and sometimes too out as in previous story, Apple has filed a patent that seeks to integrate those external sounds into your iPod or iPhone.

The way it would work is that say if you are walking down a street and wish to be kept aware of your surroundings so you don’t get hit by the car barreling down on you you could, hit a button and allow outside noises to be heard along with your music and if someone is making an announcement like screaming “Watch Out” and you’re not quite sure you heard it right you could rewind, and play it again.

Take that Mr. New York Senator!

Are we tuning out, rather than tuning in?

When the Redwire DLX ipod compatible jeans were launched in Bangalore, India yesterday for the first time the director said that the jeans signal a new step in the integration of technology into ones lives as consumers today live through their gadgets, gizmos and technology.

“Live through” our gadgets?, gizmos?, and technology?, – is that what we do. The answer is pretty much yes. Think of how often you drown yourself in a cell phone conversation or turn your iPod volume up while walking in order to tune out the world around you. (It’s the “please don’t talk to me mode”) Now we even have products such as the Ear 3 that flash red when the volume is too loud, so we know when we’ve turned our headphones up to much! It would seem we are not only tuning out the world, but making darn sure we do a good job of it by tuning it out LOUDLY. We are also paying for it according to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders. About 22 million adults suffer permanent damage from loud noise.
