Apple Rolls Over Zune for Thanksgiving Weekend

ipodThe iPod’s snowball effect appears to be a giant unstoppable force as it has rolled over, under and squashed the Zune during the Thanksgiving shopping weekend. Even an iPod accessory outsold the Zune. “The 30GB video iPods are selling well (and appear to be immune to the Zune),” wrote Deutsche Bank analyst Chris Whitmore in a research note.

Apple’s iPods claimed five of the top 10 spots on the list of most-purchased consumer electronic items sold through Amazon.com, and 10 of the top 25 spots. According to Amazon, Apple’s silver 2GB iPod Nano was the top selling electronic device, followed by the black 30GB video iPod and the Shuffle landed in third. By comparison the Zune landed at number 75 trailing even iPod’s USB power adapter which came in at number 65.

Thousands and perhaps millions will receive their first iPod this Christmas. Millions already have one and for those who have or are receiving there are many different choices of accessories to choose from this Christmas.

First and foremost you should protect your iPod. Ifrogz has developed a 100% silicone case which comes in all different colors and bands with unique graphic designs. Also the Tadpole case, tadpole specifically designed for children allows them to have a iPod without worrying about the many times they are dropped, thrown and spilled upon.

Once the iPod is protected you have your choice of sound accessories. For that husband who loves show off his favorite music throughout the house, the iPod RCA/Phono Retractable 80cm Cable – £8.95, allows you to play all your favorite iPod tunes through your home stereo. By outputting the sounds from the Dock Connector, optimum volume and clarity of sound are sure to make your husband smile.

Take a Flight and Watch Your Own iPod Movie

Tired of flying and having no choice but to watch a kids movie when your in the mood for action? Although you might want toipod kid plane steer clear of movies such as Executive Decision, Die Hard 3 and any other highjacker thrillers while in the air, soon you will be able to watch what you want and have your iPod charged at the same time.

The six airlines—Air France, Continental, Delta, Emirates, KLM, and United, plan to have integrated iPod seat connections by sometime in mid-2007. The seat connections will supply power to the iPod, allowing you to charge your iPod while being hooked up to the airplane’s seat-back displays. Users then may watch video from the iPod at eye level.

Apple is also working with Panasonic Avionics Corporation to bring these features to even more airlines in the future. Currently the service is only expected to be offered on business and first class seats and, only on international flights. However if you frequently fly from Los Angeles to New York don’t be too disappointed as this appears to be just a beginning. Soon, hopefully, iPods integration into most airplanes will simply be commonplace.
