Nokia has the elevated status of being iPod like in the phone industry shipping out over 70 million music phones last year. 348 million music phones in total. What they have been lacking is a music store to complement their music phones. While unconfirmed by Nokia, CNN Money Fortune Magazine, has reported that they will take care of that problem by launching a worldwide online music service August 29th.
The music store is expected to be kicked off with a huge celebration party with live music at the Ministry of Sound nightclub in London.
The online store will launch with 1 million songs, 4 million less than iTunes repertoire but far more than the 200,00 they started with.
It is expected to work similar to iTunes with downloads being loaded onto the phone through the PC. Non-Nokia phones will be compatible for music downloads as well using DRM software.
The music store will also offer games.

The iPhone has launched and shouts of “I got it!” heard in the street began the evening of June 29th, a day destined to go down in history as iDay.
The launch of iDay had over 200,000 units going out the door. Over half the stores sold out in the first 24 hours and total over the weekend saw between 500,000 to 600,000 iPhones sold.
Harry E. Blount of Lehman brothers wrote, “There are 1,800 AT&T stores around the nation and we estimate that they each received 60-70 iPhones for the launch for a total of 108,000-126,000 phones in the U.S… We estimate that at least 154,000 were shipped in time for the launch to Apple stores in aggregate (177 stores as of March quarter). Given that most of them had sold out by Saturday that means Apple sold at least an estimated 270,000 phones (AT&T and Apple) in aggregate…”

The fans are already lining up for the iPhone giving them just four days and three nights to hang out in the parking lot of the Apple store in New York waiting for 6:00 p.m. Friday.
They will be hopefully have lots of water and a spray bottle to cool off with, as the temperatures are expected to be 90 degrees and above and we all know what that means for blacktop temperatures.
Just a note: Any ice cream or snow cone entrepreneurs out there you can make a killing just hanging out at any AT&T store where the weather is hot!
Jessica Rodriguez who is fourth in line outside the New York Store said, “I love everything Apple, and this is going to be something that goes down in the history books of cell phones.”
Third in line David Clayman, a recent university graduate, says he plans on buying several iPhones, one for him, one for his father’s 50th birthday, and one to auction off for his favorite charity.

26 days and counting, till the much fabled release of the iPhone. This according to three new ads posted on the Apple website, new TV commercials and Tom Neumayr, an Apple spokesman.
Therefore it is official. Friday, June 29th will be the day of the iPhone. All the iPhone questions will then be answered - mainly the big one - can it live up to the hype?
Apple has promised that software upgrades will be available for the iPhone after it has been purchased, in order to stem off any potential disappointment in the phone. Executives in the company have said that the ability to upgrade the iPhone, already out in the field, will give it a significant advantage over other cellphones. Basically instead of buying a new phone you can simply add new software to make it better.

The word on the street is that June 11 is the day! The day of the iPhone, a day that will either be the launch of one of Apple’s greatest history making products or the launch of an Apple Zune-like product.
The date has not been officially announced by Apple but it is the start of Apples Worldwide Developers Conference, so along with the backing of online rumors and grander it can be a logical assumption.
Either way, I know there are already hundreds out there marking the date in their calender and perhaps getting the sleeping bag ready for a night camping outside on the good’ol’Cingular Sidewalk!
