Apple Stock Hits $200!

applestock.jpgApple has done it! They have reached the $200 dollar mark accomplished today, one day after Christmas.

Apple has always shown a performance jump as it heads into the new year, fresh off the holiday sale of iPods, iPhones, Macs and the anticipation of new announcements at MacWorld. This year has proven to be exceptional with the stock jumping 140 percent in 2007 and with Apple finally reaching the coveted $200 mark.

A huge increase in Mac sales have accounted for the majority of Apples increase in revenue for the year. The computer sales have been boosted by the high publicity of the iPhone and the new iPods. 2007 has brought Mac shipments up 36 percent over last year generating half the of Apple’s total revenue. iPod sales are up as well, but due to the proliferation of the market sales have only increased 4 percent with over a 100 million iPods being sold.

‘Tis the season for the iPod

nanored.jpgThe iPod is ramping up in sales for the holiday season according to a Bloomberg report, in spite of the slowdown in the economy and the tightening of the credit market.

“Demand for tech products remains healthy, with strength in notebooks and iPods somewhat offset by weaker demand for desktops,” wrote Bear Stearns analyst Andrew J. Neff in a note to investors.

Stearns conducted a retail survey over three days and found that stores were having trouble keeping iPods in stock in spite of improved availability over last year.

Along with the demands of the iPod, stores are also seeing a great demand of Macs, and the iPhone. “We see Apple’s story becoming stronger and evolving from a company dependent on one hit product to one with multiple growth engines” said Neff. “Mac product cycle continues to gain momentum following the migration to Intel-based CPUs, along with very competitive pricing, OS refresh, and expanding distribution.”

The iPhone “Halo Effect” Helps Macs

The iPhone’s halo effect is starting to show an impact on Mac computer sales particularly in their laptop sales, while at the same time hitting Dell hard who, according to a Change Wave Survey, is dropping to all time lows as resounding competition from Apple is taking over.

Apple’s laptop sales have reached an incredible new high since the iPhone’s release skyrocketing 5 percent from 12 to 17, with expectations that they will continue to rise.

The Change Wave Survey was conducted using 3,665 ChangeWave Alliance members. The new survey was compared to a similar survey conducted in June. Of those surveyed 28 percent who are planning to purchase a laptop say they will get a Mac. This keeps the Mac going in the same momentum as when the survey was conducted back in June. Expected Mac desktop purchases were up an additional 1 percent since the June survey with 23 percent purchasing a desktop saying they will buy Mac.

Apple Gives Microsoft A Little Payback And Lets The World Laugh

The battle between Apple and Microsoft is starting to show through their plastered smiles. Well, Steve Jobs still has his on, however Bill Gate’s smile is definitely cracking.

Recently in an interview Bill Gates let off some of his held in, frustrated (the Zune is dead) steam and let it go regarding Apple’s security, it’s ads and its claims about its OS innovation saying:

“I don’t even get it. What are they trying to say? Does honesty matter in these things, or if you’re really cool, that means you get to be a lying person whenever you feel like it?”

Later in the interview he spoke on what seemed to be about the ‘Month of Apple Bugs” project, created by Microsoft, which intended to highlight a new Mac security issue every day for the month of January 2007.
