Sony’s Air Play Wireless Sound System for iPod’s

The Sony Airplay is not only wireless, it also includes two wireless speaker systems just starting at about $400. It sports a built-in iPod dock, an AM/FM radio receiver, alarm and clock, it allows you to listen to the radio and music from your iPod simultaneously, without interfering with other household devices. Dad would love this! The wireless speakers also includes a remote control capability for the iPod player’s music. This will be available from Sony some time in September online as well as other selected retailers. This can transmit up to 10 speakers sold separately from Sony for about $130.

iFrogz Audiowrapz Wins “Best of Show” From iProng.

iProng is a world leading iPod and iTunes website for iPod news, reviews, commentary, iPod forums, music reviews and more. Each year iProng picks out new distinguishable products at Macworld and picks out their “Best of Show” winners. This year they extensively reviewed over 60 different selections and chose only 15 winners. iFrogz Audiowrapz was one of the few to receive “Best of Show“. iProng had this to say about Audiowrapz:

red_aw.jpg“The nano slides into an internal hard plastic sled, connecting to the speakers via the nano’s headphone port. We generally prefer that speaker systems connect through the iPod’s docking port, but this product is in a whole different category than your typical $100-300 iPod speaker system. In fact, at $25, the audiowrapz costs less than some competing silicone cases that don’t have speakers built-in. We had a chance to test the iFrogz prior to its debut, and surprisingly enough, it doesn’t chew through the nano’s battery life as one might expect - no small feat for a product that doesn’t have a battery of its own.”
“…It’s the kind of product that audiophiles will quickly dismiss, but the general public will love it to death.”

iFrogz Wins “Best In Show” W/ New iPod Case

best in show_1.jpgiLounge has awarded iFrogz with it’s prestigious “Best in Show” award for the new Audiowrapz iPod case at MacWorld 2008.

This is what iLounge had to say about iFrogz Audiowrapz:

“The iPhone’s bottom-mounted speaker is one of our favorite features of the device—incredibly convenient for the times when you forget your earphones. iFrogz’ Audio Wrapz ($25) are rubber cases with three integrated speakers, not requiring any additional battery power, enabling you to protect your third-generation iPod nano and hear its music without earphones. If you want, you can plug earphones into a bottom port and disable the speaker; otherwise, the iPod nano plays on its own. Different versions of the case are available, some more stylish than others; the Tadpole version is made to help the nano be used easily by young children. A great idea at a very reasonable price.”

MacWorld 2008!

macworld.jpgEvery year Apple blogs are flooded with speculation as to what will be released at the Apple MacWorld exposition in January. Apple, who keeps absolutely mum on anything up and coming, creates so much rampant speculation that they generate approximately 700 million in free advertising each year. MacWorld is one of the most talked about events as this is where Apple usually showcases any new products.

Expected for MacWorld this year is a new skinny, skinny, laptop. Fifty percent thinner than the current model the laptop is expected to have a 12-13 inch screen, optional flash memory, LED backlighting and no optical drive. The price is expected to run around $1500, more expensive than average, but you will get all the great normal Mac software such as iMovie already included. Programs that would cost you hundreds of dollars a piece to buy and put on a regular computer. Whether or not it will support a touch sensitive screen similar to the Touch is up in the air and most likely just a “please we want that.”

Jaffray Sets Apple’s Target Price At $250

Piper Jaffray has just added Apple to his Alpha List of stocks. The Jaffray Alpha list, is a list of stocks whose shares hold extreme potential for significant near-term appreciation due to particular market conditions and catalysts.

applestock44.jpgThe market condition for Apple is of course the upcoming holiday season. Noted by Jaffray is that for the last four years Apple’s stock has increased by an average of 42.5 percent between Oct. 1 and Dec. 1st. “We believe there is potential for similar gains this year for several reasons,” he wrote. “In recent years Apple has announced new or updated iPods in the fall, and this year is no exception. We believe the new iPod touch, iPod classic, and iPod nanos give Apple its strongest product line-up for the holidays in company history.”

iPod Soon To Have Touch-Screen

Gene Munster, the well known Piper Jaffray analyst, is expecting the current iPod to soon be morphed into a new iPod with the iPhone’s touch screen interface.

“We believe the iPhone reveals much of what the iPod will soon be,” Munster stated. “Specifically, we expect Apple to release high capacity iPods based on OS X sometime during or before Macworld ‘08 in January.”

Munster says that he expects the new larger screen iPods to be priced around $299. He does not expect them to have internet capabilities.

Munster also says that he does not expect the iPhone to cannibalize iPod sales, simply because, “most of the current iPod base is simply looking for a better iPod.”

The video iPod is due for a redesign as it has not happened since it was first launched in October, 2005.
