The New iPods

Apple has just released a whole new sling of iPod which should be in stores this weekend.

First we have the shuffle with a revamping of five brand new colors including red, of which part of the proceeds go the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa.

Second we have the iPod Nano 3G - a video Nano, short and fat as previously touted. The 3G has been nicknamed by many as the “fat nano”. The 3G features video, games, a split screen, enhanced images, coverflow, 5 hours of video playback, retains the click wheel and comes in stylish new colors. Price for the 4GB is $149 and the 8Gb is $199.

Third we have the 80 and amazing 160GB Classic iPods - basically the old video iPod with tons and tons of storage. In all you could store as much as 40,000 songs and 200 hours of video. (Enough to last you even if you are “Lost”). It also features a sleeker design and an all-metal enclosure. Price for the 85Gb is $249, 160GB is $299.

A Short & Fat Nano

Rumors of new fall iPods have abounded for weeks and the new one reports a short and fat Nano.

The new Nano would be fatter to incorporate the larger wide screen which would take up most of the player with the click wheel still at the bottom.

9to5Mac says that their sources in China have confirmed the rumor and they even have the colors that will be available: black-matte, silver, cranberry/wine red, light blue, and light green.

The Nano has been due for a revamp and whether or not these rumors are true the start of the fourth quarter and the huge holiday iPod rush generally means something new, i.e last years Shuffle, so there is a good possibility this could be true.
