Nike+iPod Soon To Be In Gyms

Nike is working on the next level of the iPod-Nike marriage, that of iPod nano compatible gym equipment.

nike.jpgWith over 100 million iPods out on the market and in peoples hands it seem like a pretty sound investment and one that health clubs such as 24-Hour Fitness and Virgin Athletic Health Clubs among others are supporting.

The health clubs are working with Nike and gym equipment makers to set up equipment compatible with the iPod nano. The nano’s will be able to be plugged into treadmills and the like uploading information to the Nike Web site. Exercisers will than have the ability to track workouts and set various goals.

Over 500 gyms are expected to have the new equipment by this summer.

The gym is the natural step in the evolution of the Nike+iPod shoe. Trevor Edwards, Nike’s vice president of global brand and category management said “People enjoy tracking themselves as a way to keep themselves motivated. They want to get credit.”

Running With The Nano - No Sweat!

It’s Spring - spring heads into summer and summer brings marathons! - (yes, an exclamation point - for some the word marathon actually brings a burst of excitement - for the rest of us something more like a groan of despair - “really, 26 miles! in a day! running!) but for those that it does bring a burst of excitement to, and for those that love to lose themselves in music as they maintain being thin and beautiful Nike has developed the iSkin.

The iSkin is part of the Nike + line and it is designed with zoned body ventilation (basically you’ll sweat, but you won’t show it). It is made from a polyester, nylon and elasticine blend that pulls the moisture away from your skin allowing it to evaporate.

The shirt also has a seamless design, with smooth elastic properties that moves and bends as you’re working out.

Nike + iPod Sport Kit Canditate for Favorite Gadget of the Year

Time magazine announced today that Apples Nike+iPod Sport Kit has been nominated among eight for it’s favorite gadget of the year.

The device aids runners by measuring a tiny device inside a specially designed shoe. Data than streams to your iPod Nano which keeps time and calculates calorie burn. Ipod users select music plus a time or distance for their workout and a voice prompts you at intervals. When your done with your workout simply dock and upload the data and track your performance. Set goals for yourself or challenge others. Battery lasts about 1,000 hours — that’s an hour a day for nearly three years.

Make sure to protect your iPod on your run with an ifrogz nano case. You don’t want to have a chipped, stepped on iPod simply because that darn crack in the sidewalk jumped up and tripped you.
