Samsung & Adidas Will Work-Out Together

adidas.jpgThe success of the iPod+Nike has become so phenomenal that the Nike website is adding over a thousand new runners a day to their site. Runners that like to track their efforts have found the combination irresistible.

Thus it is not at all surprising that competition would arise for the companies. What is surprising is that is has taken so long, but nevertheless it is here, in a Samsung & Adidas combination mobile phone and music player called miCoach.

The miCoach features a 2-inch screen, only 1GB of memory, a 2-megapixel camera and USB/Bluetooth interface. A heart rate monitor and, a stride sensor chip complete the miCoach which is compatible with all Adidas running footwear and apparel. Online users can track workouts with a Web workout journal similar to the Nike+iPod.

Serenata - Phone W/ Built-In Speakers

Samsung is launching their first competition to the iPhone with the Serenata.

The Serenata doesn’t look like the iPhone or any other phone we’ve ever seen, rather it more resembles on first glance an itty bitty juke box. Created by designer David Lewis the organic rounded shape of the Seranata was made to resemble pebbles shaped by ocean waves. (That is what it says on the website) Either way it is an utterly unique phone design.

Like the iPhone the Seranata does have a touch screen, although on the Seranata this feature is secondary. The primary functions of the Serenata are made through the navigation wheel, which is located above the top screen and dominates the phone. The navigation wheel controls searching menus, dialing, writing, accessing music lists, and almost all the functions of the phone.

The LCD 2.26 inch touch screen located below the navigation wheel is more for viewing song lists, phone lists, e-mail and text messages.

The iPhone Gets Stiff Competition

Watching videos, listening to songs, swapping photo’s, and the fasted internet-capable phone anywhere = the Samsung Ultra Smart F700. The F700which will debut next week at the 3GSM in Barcelona, Spain, was announced today.

The phone has the new trendy look of the iPhone, with a touch screen that looks very similar, yet it incorporates a slide out QWERTY keyboard, for those not used to touch-screen interfaces. The keyboard only adds a fifth of an inch thickness over the iPhone st 16.4mm thick.

The touch screen includes a system called VibeTonz, a vibration system that has responsive vibrations for “feeling” the buttons. It also incorporates a “drag and drop” method for simple navigation and straightforward music play list control. It has a speed of 7.2 Mbps, which will allow you to download a MP3 song, in approximately 4.4 seconds. It has full internet access, and an impressive 5 mega-pixel camera. (the iPhone only has a 2 mega-pixel camera) No word has yet been given on the lens quality for the camera.
