Soon you will find more than just clothes at one of the biggest retail stores in the world you will find iPod vending machines as well.
Macy’s will be adding the iPod vending machines to 180 store locations around the U.S. this fall.
They will be owned and maintained by Zoom systems, a San Fransicio company.
The rollout was announced at the company’s annual sharholder meeting last week as a way “to do a better job bringing most-wanted, upscale consumer electronics back into our stores, †following a test at Macy’s Union Square store in San Francisisco.
The machines will carry iPods and iPod accessories. It is possible other brands such as Sony and Motorola may be added to the inventory as well.
Zoom machines resemble two traditional glass-fronted vending machines side by side. They use advanced Sanyo robotics to deliver products to buyers, with information and payment options available through a touch screen. They first began selling merchandise in airports and hotels in the U.S. in 2005.
